The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) is pleased to announce the establishment of a World Wide Web site. The web site has been designed to share state-of the-art resources and information on traffic safety issues and programs. It is an essential tool for instantaneous communication and research crucial to meeting organizational objectives. Those who access the NETS web site will be able to access at a moment’s notice current publications, documents, and program materials from NETS, State Highway Safety Offices, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and other sources.
What is NETS? NETS was founded as a public- private partnership by corporate and government leaders in 1989. Today, it is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping employers reduce the incidence of and costs associated with motor vehicle crashes. Its membership has grown to more than 2,000 organizations employing a combined workforce in excess of three million people. In addition to its national activities, NETS also has an expanding network of coordinated employer highway safety programs at the state and local level.
The NETS Web Site A Public Relations Tool for the NETS Organization. NETS will use this site to disseminate traffic safety information, providing consumers with up-to-date statistics and information, as well as educating the business community about the costs related to traffic crashes. A Research Resource for Traffic Safety Professionals. A jumplist of traffic safety-related resources available on the Internet is maintained on the NETS web site. NETS regularly searches the vast web of information available and brings pertinent resources together in one place. A Reference Library for NETS Members. Also open to the public, the Library will provide information germane to the NETS program. Where the Research Resource will point you in the direction of traffic safety information, the Library will pull out the information related to employers and traffic safety. Listing of NETS State Programs. Each state with a local coordinator participating in the NETS program has the opportunity to list the activities and events particular to that state.
