Mission Statement:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) mission is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care and other economic costs.

The goal of NHTSA's Safety Countermeasures Division is to develop and implement interventions, including public information and education programs to reduce pedestrian, bicycle, school bus, and motorcycle related injuries and fatalities.
