[LOCAL 3D PREVENTION COALITION] to Announce Major Initiative to Combat Drunk Driving this Holiday Season

[LOCAL 3D PREVENTION COALITION] Will Join with Millions to Promote National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month During December Holidays

WHAT:   National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month Holiday Kick-Off Event, "Take a Stand Against Impaired Driving"
WHEN: [DATE AND TIME]
WHERE: [LOCATION/ADDRESS]
WHO: [SPEAKERS AND TITLES]
WHY: Alcohol is a factor in approximately 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes, and is a leading killer of young Americans. The December holidays are among the deadliest times of the year on our nation's highways, and impaired driving is a big part of the problem. The [LOCAL 3D PREVENTION COALITION] is joining with hundreds of organizations around the country to declare December National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month and to call for stronger policies and programs to deter impaired driving, impaired motorcycle riding, and impaired walking.

The [LOCAL 3D PREVENTION COALITION] will ask motorists to participate in National Lights On For Life Day on Friday, December 19, by driving with their headlights on all day to remind people about the impaired driving problem and in remembrance of those killed by impaired drivers. [LOCAL POLICE FORCE] will announce its plans for National Holiday Lifesavers Weekend, Friday, December 19 through Sunday, December 21, when police agencies across the nation will step up enforcement efforts against impaired drivers and motorcyclists, speeders, aggressive drivers, and others who make the roads especially dangerous at this time of year.

The [LOCAL 3D PREVENTION COALITION] will also release its legislative agenda for the 1998 session, and will be joined by more than [NUMBER OF LEGISLATORS/BUSINESS LEADERS/FAMILIES OF IMPAIRED DRIVING VICTIMS] who have pledged to support proposed anti-impaired driving legislation.
