CAMPAIGN SAFE AND SOBER
PROGRAM PLANNER 20: NOVEMBER 1999 - JANUARY 2000 Look inside this folder for all the latest information on two major efforts:
Plus! New camera-ready tip sheets for winter walking and winter driving. Campaign Safe & Sober Program Planners are created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to help highway safety organizers at the community and state level plan meaningful, lifesaving programs and to support making every community a "Safe Community." We try to respond to your needs and use your feedback to make these planners useful. Beginning in 1999, Campaign Safe & Sober Program Planners became geared toward the calendar, not just to specific events. That means you'll find ideas for all kinds of programs that not only track with these two major efforts, but for other late fall and winter efforts. Operation ABC Mobilization is the law enforcement and public education effort focusing on the high-travel time of the Thanksgiving holidays. The latest "Buckle Up, America!" planner is in the center pocket of this Safe & Sober Program Planner to give you message strategies, ideas and resources to implement the program in your area. National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month is December and this year kicks off a new, major year-round initiative called "You Drink & Drive. You Lose." Everything you need to know is included in the right pocket, including the 3D Activities Guide and information on national events that you can tie into for your December program plans.
The left pocket contains two new camera-ready tip sheets for winter walking and winter driving. Use these with the media, in-house publications and other materials to spread the word about safety when the weather turns bad. Also in this pocket, you'll find a wealth of information and resources available from NHTSA - publications and other materials to order, resources from the federal and state governments, artwork and more.
Need more information? Want to communicate with other Safe & Sober coordinators? Check out www.SafeandSober.org for more information. And don't forget to fill out the feedback card (in the left pocket) and the 3D Prevention Month "Brag Sheet" (in the 3D Activities Guide) so we can make future Program Planners even more helpful to you.
