Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month: May 2000

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is joining with other organizations to offer two different approaches that you can use to expand your Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month activities.

National Satellite Media Tour

During May 2000, NHTSA will partner with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) to sponsor a national satellite media tour. MSF will identify one or two spokespersons who will be interviewed by television reporters – local, regional, and national – throughout the country. These interviews will be broadcast either live or on tape and will be scheduled throughout the month of May. The interviews will be supported by appropriate pre-taped footage (b-roll) that can be shown to the audience during the interview.

You can coordinate your media efforts with these live and taped interviews as well as help assure that your local and state television outlets are aware of their availability. For additional information on the national satellite media tour contact:

Activities on the Web

The National Association of State Motorcycle Safety Administrators, with support from NHTSA, is devoting a page on its Web site, www.smsa.org, to Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month activities. A list of activities will be posted on the Web site to promote motorcycle safety, and assistance will be provided to states needing technical assistance to plan or conduct awareness activities.
