Fake Helmets – Unsafe on Any Head is a short video that educates law enforcement officers about the characteristics of motorcycle helmets that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218: Motorcycle Helmets (FMVSS No.218). An accompanying brochure, "How to Identify Unsafe Helmets" (listed below), provides information to support the video. (August 1998, Item #6A0007)

How to Identify Unsafe Motorcycle Helmets is a six-panel brochure designed to help law enforcement officers identify the characteristics of motorcycle helmets that meet FMVSS No.218. Most states have incorporated FMVSS No.218 into their state helmet use laws. A training video, "Fake Helmets – Unsafe on Any Head" (listed above), provides additional information. The National Agenda for Motorcycle Safety is a document being developed in cooperation with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to determine the most important direction for future motorcycle safety efforts. Incorporating input from a broad multidisciplinary spectrum of stakeholders, it will provide guiding principals for emphasizing motorcycle safety at the national, state and local levels. A technical working group of motorcycle and traffic safety experts created this publication with support from NHTSA. Increasing Motorcycle Awareness is a one-page flyer with "That Driver Didn't See Me! Advice to Riders" on one side and "I Didn't See It Coming! Advice to Drivers" on the other. The flyer was included in Program Planner 18. (December 1998 DOT HS 808 812, Item #6P0138)
