Guideline for the Safe Transportation of Pre-School Age Children in School Buses is a guideline to help school and transportation officials develop and implement policies and procedures for the use of Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS). School Bus Safety: Safe Passage for America's Children
provides a brief history of NHTSA's school bus safety program. It includes behavioral programs and vehicle regulations and discusses current projects including the research underway on school bus occupant protection. (August 1998, DOT HS 808 755, Item #6P0126)

Seat Belts and African Americans and Seat Belts and Hispanics are two fact sheets that address seat belt use and non-use within these communities. They include statistics (general and population-specific), minority organizational support for seat belt laws, and facts about enforcement. Standard Enforcement Saves Lives: The Case for Strong Seat Belt Laws covers the basic facts on standard enforcement seat belt laws, how these laws save lives, success stories from the U.S. and other countries, a model law, and ideas on how to generate support for public policies in your state. A Parent's Guide to Booster Seats is a brochure designed to encourage parents to use a booster seat once a child has outgrown a child safety seat. It highlights the different kinds of booster seats, which kind each child should use and why, and how to buy one. (July 1998, DOT HS 808 671, Item #1P1062)




Child Transportation Safety Tips , included in this Program Planner, is a folio of reproducible black-and-white sheets on a variety of child transportation safety topics. Topics include child safety seats, booster seats, pedestrian issues, bicycle safety, school bus safety, safety seat recalls, and the "Quick Safety Seat Checkup."
