Technical Information Services (TIS)
In keeping with the Congressional mandate that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provide public access to government information, the NHTSA Technical Reference Division (TRD) was established as the reference facility for the Administration's public records. The name of this Office was later changed to Technical Information Services (TIS) which better describes the information collection and the mission of NHTSA. This guide briefly describes the collections located in TIS and their relation to the program offices where the materials originate.
